Accomodations for our European Creative Workshops

We offer tuition and housing packages for all our European workshops. Participants can choose from a wide range of possibilities from hostels, pensions, to 3 and 4 star hotels depending on location. Accommodations are on a first come first served basis. Please reserve yours well in advance to ensure your space.
Participants in the workshop can also make their own housing arrangements.
The difference between hostels, pensions and hotels has to do with the amenities they offer. The less expensive choices tend to have fewer services and amenities. Almost all of our accommodations are within 5 - 15 minutes walking distance to the classroom and some of the accommodations are on the site of the classroom.
European hotels may not have the same amenities as U.S., such as elevators and handicapped rooms. If you have concerns about walking, the availability of elevators or need special accommodations, the workshops located in the U.S. may be more appropriate.
If you choose the UMelunu Hostel in our Prague Creativity Workshop, our least expensive accommodations, you will need to take the Metro to get to class (about a 30-minute ride). Our assistant will escort you to class from the hostel on the first day of Workshop.

Hostels
Hostels are no frills places in which you often have to share bathrooms and showers, although you will see that some of our hostels offer private rooms and private bathrooms. Hostels often offer the opportunity to meet fellow travelers from all over the world. Hostels usually do not have phones, TV, or A/C in the rooms though their public rooms usually have phones and sometimes Internet access and TV. It is imperative that you arrive before 7 PM at the hostel in Florence to get checked in for the first night. There is no check-in time limitation at our other hostels. Nikbor University Residence, our hostel option in Barcelona, can be very hot in the summer. The rooms do not have fans and the city can be humid. It is better to choose one of our other accommodations if the heat bothers you.

Pensions
Pensions are a step up in the accommodations world. They are often small, family run affairs. There may be some language challenges between you and the management as some do not speak English. Most pensions have fans but no A/C (though our Greek pensions do offer A/C for an extra nightly charge).

Hotels
Hotels (standard and superior) usually have A/C, in-room phones, and various other services. You’ll want to check each of our listings for what the hotels offer. There is a big difference in the luxury factor between standard and superior hotels, though both will typically have English speaking attendants, A/C, and telephones in the rooms.

BUDGET: Hotel Helena

STANDARD: Hotel Samaria (3 )is located in the center of the city, this is also where our classes are to be held. It is a 15 minute walk from the old harbor and our other accommodations.

STANDARD PLUS:
Hotel Porto Veneziano (3 ) is a Hotel
Porto Veneziano modern building and part of the Best Western chain. Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, direct dial telephone, music, television, mini-bar, hairdryer and private balcony.The hotel has a lush green garden and an internet cafe.

HOSTEL:
Youth Hostel Firenze 2000 is located in the most ancient quarter of Florence. Close to Palazzo Pitti, Ponte Vecchio, Galleria degli Uffizi and Piazzale Michelangelo.

STANDARD: Hotel Albion (3 Hotel
Albion ) Charming and comfortable, Hotel Albion is part of the “Palazzo Villa”, built in the 19th century. The Palazzo is considered one of the most interesting examples of English neo-gothic style in Florence. It is located at just 10 minute walk from the city's historical sites.

SUPERIOR:
The elegant Hotel Anglo American(4 ) reflects the history and grandeur of the city. It is decorated with antique furniture and paintings from the Florentine school. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned. The price includes a wonderful buffet breakfast in an early 20th century atmosphere.

Prague

Hostel U Melunu offers very simple accommodations in a quiet neighborhood of Prague. It is a 30 minute walk or 15 minute subway ride from Hostel U Melunu to the classroom.

STANDARD PLUS:
Hotel Royal Esprit Hotel
Royal Esprit (3) was built in 1924 by the father of the current owner and renovated in 1998 with Art Deco furniture. It is located very close to the Old Town Square and the historical center of Prague. All rooms include private bathroom, hair dryer, mini-bar, satellite TV, and telephone.

SUPERIOR:
Hotel Pariz (4) was built in 1904 in the Art Nouveau style. It is located within walking distance of the historical center. The air-conditioned sound proof rooms include direct dial telephone with voice mail, internet connection, satellite TV, Pay TV, mini bar and safer. The full size bathrooms are equipped with hairdryers, massage showers and bathrobes.

The Mercer Court Student Residence Mercer
Court Student Residence The Mercer Court Student Residence is situated next to Dublin's famous Grafton Street and St. Stephen's Green. Open each year from mid June to late September, the Mercer Court is located next to many of Dublin's bars, restaurants, museums, theater's, shopping and visitor attractions. All rooms offer en-suite facilities, direct dial telephone, TV, towels and linen.

SUPERIOR:
The Mercer Hotel (3) is a luxury boutique style hotel located in the heart of Dublin city center. The bedrooms are decorated with Flora Mitchell prints and classical style furniture. Each room includes the following: Individually controlled air conditioning, Direct Dial Telephone, Fax/Modem Points, Color TV & Video, Tea/Coffee Making Facilities, Hairdryer, Trouser Press, Fridge & Complimentary mineral water, CD Player, Bathrobes.
