We want to thank all of the applicants for their proposals. There were so many wonderful applications that it was very difficult to make our final decision. It is inspiring to hear of the work and aspirations of gifted and enthusiastic writers. The winners of the Creativity Workshop 2007 Women Writers Fellowships in Italy are:

1st PRIZE: Free tuition and 9 nights accommodations in Florence, Italy to attend a Creativity Workshop July 13 - 22, 2007. (Airfare is not included).
WINNER: Ms. Melita Schaum, poet and professor of creative writing at the University of Michigan at Dearborn.

2nd PRIZE: Free tuition to attend a Creativity Workshop July 13 - 22, 2007 in Florence, Italy. (Airfare and accommodations are not included).
WINNER: Maw Shein Win, poet and multimedia artist from Berkeley, California.

Requirements:
a) A 500 word proposal to develop a new piece of writing in the applicant's field (fiction writing, poetry or playwriting). The proposal should include a statement of how being in Florence and attending a workshop that includes creative writing, drawing, storytelling and memoir would help develop the project.
b) Bio
c) Past participants of the Creativity Workshop are not eligible.
d) Participants must legal residents of the United States.
e) Email submissions only.

Guidelines:
To apply for the Creativity Workshop 2007 Educator Fellowships in Italy you must do so by email.

3) All applications must be written in English. The fellowship is open only to women writers residing in the US. Writers should be proficient in the English language.
